winter term done and dusted...

Hi all the winter term is all done ... despite the fact that it's been snowing here in Liverpool ... it's the spring term now.
Four very tricky exams all done... get the results soon!! hopefully I'll have done ok..

This term we're learning about Brains.. and also diverse species ... so we'll be covering all the other things that vets have to deal with .. like rabbits, frogs, fish, birds things like that.....

Photosoc has taken off ... we've got enough members now to run a proper society ... ! so it's all good...

Reflections on the first year!

HTML clipboardThe first year has gone very quickly.... but very enjoyably. The course is a lot more demanding than the BSc, and I must admit it came as quite a shock to the system having thought I'd done all this before .....

However with one year down and four to go I feel I have developed good strategies to cope with the workload while working 2 days a week as well.

It doesn't leave me much spare time but with what I have had I've been part of the Photography group at University, where I learnt and developed my photography skills.

I've also joined the Liverpool University Veterinary Zoological Society (LUVZS for short) which I'm now treasurer (having had such vast experience at raising money!) We're hoping to organise all sorts of trips for the coming year, all advertised via the website .... built by yours truly!

HTML clipboard This summer I spent a great deal of my time on placement. I covered Sheep and Cats at Easter.... and started this summer with one week in Newmarket followed by a week rehabilitating racehorses in Thetford, followed by two weeks on a pig farm in pig country, followed by a week at a gundog kennels then two weeks milking cows, then a week or so to catch up on some sleep!

NEWS FLASH !!! OLIVER THE ADOPATVET MASCOT INVOLVED IN A CAR CRASH!!

Yes the beautiful black cat featured on adopatvet was hit by a car on 6th of August ...
but he had a lucky escape .... our neighbour was walking past and must have found him seconds after it happened and let us know. He was in a very bad way, with bleeding from his mouth and started going into shock. However we rushed him to see Shona the vet... ( am not yet qualified enough to deal with such emergencies) and she stablised him by putting him on a drip. AMAZINGLY enough after through x rays it was found that he hadn't broken a single bone!!!!
But had injured his brachial plexus, the bundle of nerves in the 'armpit' that runs down the leg. Rather like a junction box.
The poor boy has been having to rest in a puppy crate ever since but is walking very well now and is making a good recovery!

PET PROBLEMS??

Do you have a pet problem?
Maybe I can help??
Just add your question to this post and I'll see what I can do....
